National Indigenous Women’s Federation (NIWF) is an umbrella organization of 49 Indigenous Women(IW) organizations. This non-profit making organization has been working in the field of indigenous women mainly focusing on indigenous women’s human rights, land rights, identity, against the indigenous women’s violence, advocacy, research, publication and promotion of indigenous knowledge and skills to achieve the collective mission of indigenous women.

In response to the pressing need to address GBV and environmental linkages, the project, “RESIST: Women Environmental Human Right Defenders in Nepal Resisting Gender-Based Violence”, emerged as a collaborative effort led by DanChurchAid (DCA). Partnering with the National Indigenous Women’s Federation (NIWF) and the Dalit Women Right Forum (DWRF), the project is set to make significant strides in combating GBV faced by women human rights defenders (WEHRDs), particularly targeting Tharu women and Dalits in Nepal's Kailali district.

Job summary

Local Project Officer is mainly responsible to work closely with the target groups in the working areas. This role includes project implementation, capacity building, internal and external coordination and representation, and reporting.

Major Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Under the guidance of Project Coordinator, work closely with CFUG members, Tharu Customary Institution (Valmansa), youths, gender networks while implementing project activities.
  • Support in implementing workshop plan, project activities, and reporting progress of field activities.
  • Develop and maintain mutual and beneficial relationships with key stakeholders through regular coordination and frequent communication.
  • Maintain proper documentation of the project activities and timely submit for each activity carried out in the field.

Education

  • Bachelors degree in Social sciences, Social, Development Studies, community Development, Sociology, or related field.

Work Experience and competencies

  • At least 3 years of experience on project management, and program implementation at field level.
  • Previous working experience on Gender Based Violence, Climate change and indigenous people rights.
  • Experience in community mobilization
  • Strong coordination and collaboration abilities with stakeholders and community people.
  • Program and budget management experience
  • Strong leadership and guidance skills.
  • Financial and policy compliance understanding.
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills.
